Danzfusion Annual Show – Summer 2011
“Dance to the Top”  

Saturday 16th July 2011
at the Key Theatre

 
This year’s show “Dance to the Top” has been booked for the weekend of the 15th/16th July 2011 and will be held again at the Key Theatre. The technical rehearsal will be on the Friday, which everyone in the cast MUST attend (approx time 4-7pm). This is very important as it allows everyone to see the front of house and backstage area’s, as well as plot out the dances and spacing on stage. The two shows are on the Saturday (16th) with the matinee at 2:30pm and the evening show at 7pm. Due to the large number of children and adults performing in the show and the theatre’s restrictions backstage to fit in with dressing room space and fire regulations the children will be performing in ONE of the shows. Your child will be in the afternoon/ evening show SO PLEASE ENSURE TO PURCHASE TICKETS FOR THE CORRECT SHOW!

   Arrival times and final arrangement details will be given closer to the show, although for planning please ensure all performers are at the theatre no later than one hour before the show start time and will finish approx 2 and a half hours after the show start time. You will be able to purchase tickets for the show from the Key Theatre box office on 01733 207239 at the cost of £10 for an adult ticket and £8 for concessions from approximately April time. I believe there may be a small charge for purchases made by card. Please ask the theatre staff about this. The tickets will be sale shortly so please book ASAP to avoid disappointment, it is a first come first served basis.

 Below is costume list for the dances that you/ your child is involved in. I have kept costumes as simple as possible so that many items can be found at home or purchased easily and cheaply. You need to have all costumes ready by mid June ready for a dress rehearsal at the end of June and beginning of July. Some groups will have more than one extra rehearsal due to the number of dances that they have to complete in the short time left. Again I will inform you of the dates and times if it applies to you/ your child.

Any items of costumes that are borrowed MUST be returned to me at the end of the show. A lot of time and money has gone into making costumes so please ensure that you/ your child take care of anything borrowed. If items are not returned charges be made for their replacement. Similarly if borrowed costumes are soiled or damaged charges will be made for any dry cleaning and/ or repairs. The consumption of food and drink will not be permitted near costumes.

 There is number of quick changes between dances for many of the groups performing in the show, some as quick as 3 minutes! This will of course be kept to a minimum, but I’m sure you can appreciate in some cases it can not be avoided. Children will be responsible for their own costumes and getting them in order and ready, although some of the adult squad will be around to usher groups in the right direction! There should not be any major problems although I would just like everyone to be aware that it is a tightly timed programme. Names MUST be put in all costumes as I’m sure you can appreciate children will have similar items so this will avoid any mix ups. I would recommend putting name/ initials into jazz shoes/pumps for the same reason as there will be multiple similar pairs in each dressing room.

 It is imperative that you/your child attends classes regularly so that they do not miss out on learning choreography and important elements such as the positioning of dances etc. Although we do go over things in class we do essentially have to keep moving on at a steady pace in order to get everything completed in time for the performance, so please practice in between classes!

Dance to the Top costume list

I have kept costume items as simple as possible and will provide the more difficult pieces. These will say provided in brackets after the item, which MUST be returned. Charges will be made for items that are not returned.

Fight for this Love

Black harem trousers, Black vest top, plain red football style knee socks, 4m of black ribbon (cut 4×1metre lengths to create ballet style wrap over the socks). I will show the children how to do this in a rehearsal. Black wrap top and belt (provided),

Boom boom pow

Black leggings or plain trousers, silver leg warmers, Glasses (provided), black hand sleeve (provided), silver top (provided)

Pokerface

Black leggings or plain black trousers, Plain white t-shirt- this will need to be provided to me by the end of May so that I can put a design on the front of each top.

Right round

Cropped black jogging bottoms (you can just cut or roll up normal ones), bright tights or knee length socks in colours such as pink, yellow, purple, green (think neon colours!)black hoodie (Danzfusion trousers and hoodie can be worn) coloured visor (provided) 

Weds 5:30

Telephone

Black leggings, White T-shirt (this need to be given to me by May please so I can add a design onto the front

In my head

Jeans, bright red shirt (like the colour of the danzfusion logo, black waistcoat, black fingerless gloves

Crazy in love

Anything in green, purple and black. Please be adventureous and make the costume interesting!!

Lets Dance/ We will rock you

Punky look- Think layers, ripped items, accessorised with chain, pins, gloves, fishnet arm tights, bandana’s etc in black, white and orange. 

Thurs/ Fri 5:30pm class

Bad boys

Yellow top  , purple tights, black cropped joggers. Purple hats with yellow belt tied round (provided)

Just dance

White T-shirt will need to be provided to me by May so that I can cut them into shape. Black vest top to be worn under the T-shirt (as the sides will be cut low) Mix of blue, purple, gold and silver leggings (provided)

Survivor

Black leggings, White vest top, army jackets these will be tied up so the vest can be seen out of the bottom (provided)

Little less conversation

Jeans (please ensure that you can move around in them and they are not to tight!), checked shirts (any colour), white vest top under shirt.

Thurs/ Fri 6:30pm class

Club can’t handle me

Black hoodie (zip down the front). This will be cut at the sides to make shred like design. We will do this in class or at rehearsal so that it is done correctly. Red vest top under the hoodie, black joggers, danzfusion hats (provided)

Bad romance

Black leggings, White T-shirt (I will need this by May please so I can add a ribbon and put a design on the front), Masks (provided)

Blood on the dancefloor

Black trousers (not joggers please), black shirt and white tie. Black shoes!!

Bleeding love

Grey joggers and grey vest top, Off the shoulder top (provided)

Acrobatics – Black leggings and black leotard will be the base for all dances.

Take a bow

Ballet style skirt (coral/mint colours- these will be provided)

Everything I do

Red lace dress (provided)

Earthsong 

Short wrap skirt in various earth/ neutral colours (provided)

Squad- Monday 6:30

Beautiful Monster

White hoodie, baggy jeans, white gloves with lights (these are provided. They will be signed in and out to ensure I get them back as they were expensive. I will charge for any that are not returned)

Doop

Black best top, Black hotpants, tan coloured tights, black tube skirt (I have seen some cheap ones in H&M for £3/4. I know they also do them in primark). I need this skirt by the beginning of May please so I can add tasselling. Pearl bead necklace (preferably long so it can be wrapped around twice). You will need either character shoes for this or black jazz shoes), headdress with feather ( provided)

Thunder in my heart

Black leotard black leggings, tabard (provided). No shoes!

Reet Petitie

Black leotard, black hotpants, tan coloured tights, tied up white shirt, circular green/black skirt (provided). Either black character shoes or jazz shoes again.

Adults

OMG

Mirrored aviator style glasses, Plain white vest top/t-shirt cut low at the sides. I can cut this if you want me to! Black vest top to wear under T-shirt. Black sequined leggings or trousers (completely sequinned)

Ice ice baby

Black harem trousers, Black blazer jacket (shoulder pads!!)Ice ice baby T-shirt (provided)

Don’t cha- extra rehearsal

Black shorts, red braces attached to the shorts but worn hanging down. Striped top, Striped socks. (red and black, black and white, blue and white, red and white, sort of colours)

Dirty Diana- extra rehearsal

Black leggings, Black lace bodysuit, turquoise vest top to wear under the lace, Black hoodie (I will cut these into a halterneck at a rehearsal). I have some turpuoise harem pants that are chiffon that will be worn over the leggings. 

Frisky/ closer

Anything in a mix of black, red and leopard print as worn in the competition.
